Every Step Forward, Made Possible by You
When Katy and her son Teddy arrived in Austin for a three-week intensive therapy program, they carried equal parts hope and determination. Teddy, who has cerebral palsy, was working toward a milestone his family had been waiting for: learning to stand.
They were far from home, navigating a demanding medical schedule, and focused entirely on Teddy’s progress. What they found at Ronald McDonald House Central Texas was more than a place to stay. They found comfort, stability, and a sense of home during a season that required everything they had.

“Before we came here, he was kind of crawling more,” Katy shared. “Now he’s standing up and trying to move.”
Day by day, Teddy grew stronger. He practiced balancing, pulling himself up, and eventually standing more independently. Each small step mattered. By the end of their stay, the progress was undeniable.
Teddy at Therapy
While Teddy focused on therapy, our House took care of the rest. Warm meals, friendly staff, and playrooms filled with toys Teddy loved helped ease the stress of being away from home. Having a safe, welcoming place to return to each day allowed Katie to focus on what mattered most: supporting Teddy’s growth, celebrating each new step forward, and holding onto hope for what was ahead.
“It felt like we were at home,” Katy said. “We are just so glad that you guys have this opportunity for families because it does make traveling and the medical journey so much easier.”
The Connor Family
Stories like Katie and Teddy’s reflect the impact made possible through your generosity.
In 2025, because of donors like you, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas served 1,196 families, provided 13,214 nights of comfort, and saved families more than $2.3 million in food and lodging expenses.
Your support creates space for healing, for progress, and for moments of hope. It ensures families can focus on their child, not where they will sleep or how they will afford another night away from home.
Every step forward Teddy made was supported by our community who believes families belong together. Thank you for making this care possible.
